MONROVIA, Liberia<\/strong> \u2013 The Faith and Justice Network (FJN) actively participated in the 35th General Assembly of the Liberia Council of Churches (LCC), recently held in Monrovia. Among the FJN delegation were Board Chairman, Bishop Samuel Jerome Quire, Jr., who is also the former 1st<\/sup> Vice Chairman of the Liberia Council of Churches, Board Vice Chairman, Rev. Dr. Nuwoe-James Kiamu, Rev. Dr. Tolbert Thomas Jallah, Regional Executive Director Ms. Victoria Williams, Finance and Administration Officer; and Mr. Jerry U. Gardiner, Communications Officer.
As member of the Faith and Justice Network delegation, the Board Vice Chairman, Rev. Dr. Kiamu provided reflections on the mission and ongoing activities of the organization. In his remarks, he stressed the importance of FJN’s role as a regional ecumenical organization dedicated to promoting justice, transparency, and accountability in collaboration with churches and faith-based organizations.![\"\"](\"https:\/\/fjnetwork.org\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/20250530_114404-300x146.jpg\")
The FJN Board Member, as part of reflection highlighted FJN’s active monitoring of prisons throughout Liberia, oversight of the Legislature’s performance, and advocacy for addressing corruption and discouraging “sex for grades” in the education sector.
Additionally, he noted that FJN works with churches in Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Ivory Coast within the Mano River Basin as well as within Liberia. Through these efforts, we aim to raise awareness about injustices and promote faith-based advocacy across national borders.![\"\"](\"https:\/\/fjnetwork.org\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/fjn-delegate-300x146.jpeg\")
Dr. Kiamu emphasizes the importance of protecting the rights of prisoners as a key area of focus. In addition to advocating for humane treatment and legal rights of incarcerated individuals, FJN also takes on broader issues such as gender-based violence and social injustice.
