On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Faith and Justice Network Gender Justice Campaign, in partnership with women of faith from churches across Kingsville Township, Montserrado County, Liberia, united in a powerful public witness through a Thursdays in Black Street Stunt\u2014declaring boldly that Gender-Based Violence is a Sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the slogan: \u201cGender-Based Violence is a Sin: Our Faith Propels Us to Protect, Not to Harm,\u201d women of faith took to the streets dressed in black, not in mourning\u2014but in resistance, resilience, and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs women of faith, we believe that our spiritual convictions demand action, says Ms. Jamama Dennis, head of the Kingsville United Women Network\u201d. \u201cWe cannot remain silent while women and girls suffer violence in homes, communities, and institutions. The sacred texts that guide us call for love, dignity, protection, and justice for all. Our faith compels us not to harm, but to heal; not to dominate, but to protect; not to ignore, but to act\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This campaign is more than a demonstration\u2014it is a movement. A call to churches, communities, and leaders to break the silence, confront the systems that enable abuse, and walk in solidarity with survivors. Every Thursday, FJN staff wear black to remember, resist, and proclaim that gender-based violence must end\u2014and it begins with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We invite all people of faith and conscience to join this righteous cause. Because silence is complicity, and together, we can say: Not in our churches. Not in our homes. Not in our communities.
