Nzerekore, Guinea – April 5, 2025 – The Church Leaders Conference, held from April 3-4, 2025 in Nzerekore, Guinea, brought together 30 influential Christian leaders from Guinea and Liberia to engage in a profound discussion about the mission of the Church and its role in advocating for human dignity, equality, and justice. The two-day sub-regional conference highlighted the Christian perspective on these critical issues, urging leaders to consider the centrality of justice in the work of the Church

The conference focused on the powerful teachings of Christ as a foundation for advocating for the dignity and equality of all people, emphasizing that human beings, created in the image of God, are deserving of respect and fairness in every aspect of life. Church leaders explored the importance of addressing systemic inequalities, fostering peace, and promoting justice in their communities. They acknowledged that the mission of the Church extends beyond spiritual care to actively advocating for the rights of the marginalized, oppressed, and voiceless in society.

Through in-depth discussions, the participants reaffirmed the need for the Church to lead by example, serving as a beacon of justice and compassion. The Church is called to stand against injustice and to promote equality for all, regardless of their status, ethnicity, or background. The dialogue was both inspiring and challenging, urging all participants to renew their commitment to the Church’s advocacy mission.

This conference also marked a pivotal moment for building stronger regional ties between the Christian communities of Guinea and Liberia, with a shared focus on advocacy for the marginalized and voiceless. The leaders vowed to work collaboratively in addressing human rights violations, pushing for policies that protect the most vulnerable, and fostering a culture of peace and mutual respect across borders.

In closing, the Faith and Justice Network, through the voices of its Board of Directors, reaffirmed its belief in God’s unwavering commitment to justice. “We stand firm in our belief that God’s justice will prevail, and as His representatives on Earth, we must advocate for a world where dignity, equality, and justice are not only ideals but realities for every person,” said the Rev. Dr. Tolbert Thomas Jallah, Jr., Regional Executive Director, in a closing statement.

The Faith and Justice Network is committed to supporting the work of the Church in its advocacy efforts, ensuring that human dignity and justice are upheld in every community, regardless of geographic or social boundaries.
