Archbishop Michael K. Francis Intellectual Discourse on Social Justice and Peace Pandemic, Peace and Justice in Changing Times

In the midst of a global pandemic, rising global violence and systemic injustice, especially rape within the Mano River Basin Countries, the Faith and Justice Network brought together experts and practitioners from churches and seminaries to consider the interplay of justice and faith and to find strategies to elevate collective efforts to shape a more just, secure and peaceful future in the wake of the COVID -19 Pandemic.

The intellectual discourse was paneled by Pastor Gemane G. Getteh of the Seventh Day Adventist Monrovia Central, The Rev. Fr. Godfred Nemah, St. Paul’s Seminary, Catholic Diocese of Gbarnga and Mrs. Rebecca Tarpeh – Major, Deputy General Secretary of the Inter-religious Council of Liberia with over 50 persons in attendance on Thursday, July 30th, 2020 at the Passion Hotel, Gbarnga City, Bong County, Liberia.

The discourse engaged citizens to support peace and justice work throughout Liberia in these changing times. And called on churches to continue to create awareness and consciousness in the minds of citizens of the works and teachings of Archbishop Michael K. Francis on social realities in Liberia.

At the intellectual discourse, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Faith and Justice Network, Rev. Dr. Nuwoe–James Kiamu referred to Archbishop Francis as a “Champion of a Just Society” who was called to impact society. Dr. Kiamu in his opening statement called the church of Liberia to be on the frontline of society, promoting a selfless and hunger-free society.
