The Faith and Justice Network expresses its deepest concern and strongest opposition to any provision in the proposed Health Bill of Liberia that seeks to legalize, justify, or expand access to abortion.
Our position is clear, unwavering, and rooted in the timeless moral truth that every human life, from the moment of conception until natural death, is sacred. Every child in the womb is a human person endowed with dignity and deserving of legal protection. No human being is disposable. No life is without value. No circumstance can diminish the inherent worth of a person created in the image and likeness of Almighty God.
We therefore reject the notion of “justified abortion” as contained in the proposed legislation. We believe that such a provision undermines the fundamental right to life, weakens the moral foundation of our society, and abandons the very individuals who are most vulnerable and incapable of defending themselves.
Liberia is a nation founded upon faith, justice, and respect for human dignity. The protection of innocent life should never be treated as a matter of political convenience or ideological preference. It is a moral obligation and a sacred duty.
The Faith and Justice Network calls upon every member of the Legislature to reject any clause that permits or promotes abortion. We urge lawmakers to stand on the side of life, compassion, and authentic healthcare by supporting policies that provide care for mothers, strengthen families, and protect unborn children.
Those legislators who choose to vote in favor of abortion provisions will bear responsibility for supporting a policy that permits the deliberate ending of unborn human life. Such a vote will place them on record as supporters of the abortion provisions of this bill, and their constituents will have the right to evaluate that decision according to their own moral, religious, and civic convictions.
This is a defining moment for our nation. Future generations will remember whether today’s leaders chose to defend the voiceless or to remove legal protections from the unborn. The Faith and Justice Network stands firmly with all people of goodwill in declaring that every life matters, every child deserves protection, and every human being has a God-given right to life.
We call upon churches, mosques, faith-based institutions, civil society organizations, traditional leaders, parents, youth groups, and all Liberians who cherish the sanctity of life to raise their voices and advocate for a Health Bill that protects both mother and child.
The measure of a just society is found in how it treats its most vulnerable members. The unborn are among the most vulnerable. We must not fail them.
LIFE MUST BE PROTECTED. HUMAN DIGNITY MUST BE DEFENDED. LIBERIA MUST CHOOSE LIFE.
