2nd Ecumenical Gender-Based Violence Conference – A Powerful Stand Against Gender-Based Violence in the Mano River Basin

From March 25 to 27, 2025, in the Conference Hall of the College of Health Sciences, at the Lutheran University of Liberia (LUL) in Zorzor City, Lofa County, became a beacon of hope and action against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The Faith and Justice Network (FJN) hosted its 2nd Ecumenical Gender-Based Violence Conference, an inspiring event that united over 30 men and 30 women from Liberia and Guinea coming from various religious groups to confront and combat the urgent issue of gender-based violence in churches and their surrounding communities.

The participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a collective responsibility to lead by example with a unified front against Gender-Based Violence, ensuring that the values of love, respect, and justice take center stage in every church and community. The 2nd Ecumenical Gender-Based Violence Conference has sparked a movement in the Mano River Basin, one that will reverberate through Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and beyond, as religious leaders continue to work hand in hand with local authorities and organizations to create a future where gender-based violence is no longer tolerated. Together, they have taken a bold step toward a world where faith and justice intersect, creating safer spaces for everyone.
